25 years of video games, merchandise, trading cards, TV series, movies, and much more. Feel old yet?
Some of us may remember the time when Pokemon first launched in 1996, like yesterday. Since then, it has been an exciting 25 years of video games, merchandise, trading cards, TV series, movies, and much more. Feel old yet?
To celebrate this amazing journey, The Pokemon Company International officially announced their 25th Anniversary celebration, headlined by the pop icon Katy Perry. According to the Official Press Release for The Pokemon Company International, this is what Katy Perry had to say about the announcement –
“Pokémon has been a constant in my life from playing the original video games on my Game Boy, to trading Pokémon TCG cards at lunch, to the adventures of catching Pokémon on the street with Pokémon GO. I’ve even visited the Pokémon Café in Japan while on tour! It is an honor to be chosen to help celebrate a franchise that has given me so much joy in the last 25 years, and to be able to watch it evolve in the ways it’s provided that kind of electric joy for the kids in my life and around the world,”
As you can already tell by this news, this year’s celebration is all about music. They are calling this celebration the “P25” music event, which features Katy Perry as the headliner, along with a “star-studded” lineup, created in partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG). That’s all that the highly nostalgic and entertaining trailer for the 25th Anniversary has revealed so far.
Apart from the P25 music event, the company will also be releasing jumbo cards of all 24 Starter Pokemon in special booster packs throughout the year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary. You can find more information regarding this, along with the release date of each pack, here.
It will be interesting to see the new and exciting developments as we approach the event. Stay tuned to know all the latest news regarding the 25th Anniversary celebration by following us on Instagram at @curacards.
